Proper techniques and team strategies are outlined on a chalkboard and demonstrated using game footage. The attack options shown are dependent upon each team member providing support for the puck carrier by skating effectively off the puck. Types of support demonstrated include: puck control (triangulation, mid-lane support, and cycling) and pressure (delays, drives, and crosses). Keys to effective timing and vision on-ice are also introduced. (22 minutes)

From the International Center for Hockey Excellence. The focus of this video is to improve puck handling and improve scoring position through deking. Game footage reinforces correct technique. Stick handling drills include sweeps and figure eights. Deking technique drills include: deking imaginary opponents, deking stationary opponents, and live deking against a retreating opponent. Competitive drills (1-on-1, 2-on-2, 3-on-3) reinforce technique and simulate game-like conditions. Emphasis is placed on looking up and down during puck control, and making sure the first fake forces the defender to commit their stick. (40 minutes)

Individual skills instruction includes: stop and start straight-line skating, using an active stick, short-handed body checking, and proper positioning. Drills to reinforce proper positioning and skating methods are included. Tactics for team penalty killing are introduced and demonstrated; these include: pressure, containment, support, and transition. 3-on-2 drills help reinforce proper read-and-reaction techniques when faced with varying factors such as: talent, size of ice, and position on the ice. One-man and two-man short team strategies include passive, semi-active, and aggressive. (27 minutes)

Focusing on the standing position style, this video covers the fundamentals of goalie movement, anticipation, and concentration. Movement instruction includes a description of the ready position from all angles, and on- and off-ice drills to improve movement and coordination. Anticipation instruction centers on the "odd/even rule" for determining aggressiveness. Direct and indirect attack drills are included to reinforce positioning and anticipation. A concentration section provides tips to help goalies stay focused and positive. (25 minutes)

The video focuses on quick-up regroups which quickly expose a weakness in the defense and create a scoring opportunity. Types of quick-ups taught include: drags to the middle, defenseman to defenseman partner passes, defenseman advancing the puck, and second wave attacks. Team drills are demonstrated to reinforce the responsibilities of the defensemen and the forwards. Timing and communication are stressed in each drill. All drills are drawn on a chalkboard, then demonstrated on-ice. (40 minutes)

Instruction within this video focuses on the "read and react" skills necessary for successful transition from defense to offense in the defensive and neutral zones. Coordination, conditioning, and "thinking" on-ice skills are demonstrated using game footage, then reinforced with drills on and off the ice. Off-ice drills focus on combination hand/foot maneuvers to improve coordination. Off-ice obstacle course drills simulate transition from defense to offense. On-ice obstacle course and competitive drills reinforce "read and react" thinking skills. (23 minutes)

Coach George Kingston uses overheads and Olympic hockey footage to illustrate the proper tactics for limiting offensive time and space, forcing the offense into poor ice position, and preventing scoring opportunities. The key concepts of selective pressure/patience, goal-side body positioning, and angling the offense into unfavorable ice position are explained. Drills to reinforce these key concepts are demonstrated on-ice using youth hockey players. (43 minutes)

Drills demonstrated will reinforce defensemen's read and react transition skills in: preventing a score, gaining possession of the puck, and beginning a breakout. At the same time, drills will reinforce the forwards' transition and timing skills in: attempting to score, fore-checking after losing possession of the puck, and beginning a counter-attack. While playing these games, players will improve speed, agility, balance, puck-handling skills, and break-away skills. Puckhandling for Goaltenders teaches three basic puck handling techniques for goaltenders: freezing (covering) a loose puck, setting the puck (making a short pass), and playing the puck (passing to a teammate). Each technique is described and demonstrated on-ice. Drills are then demonstrated to improve puck handling and passing skills through simulated game situations. Drills cover situations including rimmed pucks, dumped-in pucks, loose pucks and rebounded pucks.
